I’m a UI/UX designer based in the North East of England. I am a Computer Science Graduate with a passion for design looking to continue my growth in this sector!
I graduated from Newcastle University with a high 2:1 in computer science in 2021. After Improving my UI/UX skills I got a job as a Junior UI/UX Designer for a start up called Barbr where I worked for a year and quickly became the design lead for the company!
My time at Barbr gave me a lot of experience as I was dumped in the deep end due to the nature of a start up in an aligle work enviroment. I very quickly had to improve to meet what was expect of me in my role. My time here was challenging but definately worth it as I feel I have more than a years experience from the year I was there.
I am planning to move to Leeds in the very near future, I drive too so getting to the office if needed would be no problem. I am also open to remote roles too! I have worked for a year as the sole UI/UX designer for a SaaS startup working on mobile and web applications. Although I only have 1 year in the job, I was given invaluable experience due to being thrown in the deep end and having to grow as a designer much quicker than others with similar experience. I was also responsible for android and iOS app testing due to the small size of the company. I am driven to grow as a designer, looking to take any courses I need to fill in any gaps in my experience, I am currently workingthrough the Google Certificate UX designer course. I know I have the ability to complete work to a high standard and learn quickly, I just need someone to give me the opportunity to prove myself 😊.
I have always been interested in design and it’s always beena hobby of mine. Starting out around 8 years ago I started playing around withAdobe suite programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, creating logos for myselfand friends then onto some small businesses.
From studying Computer Science, I got a good grasp ofprogramming and software engineering but always found myself more attracted todesign work. During my course I was able to take Human Computer Interaction andAdvanced Interaction Design modules which further steered me to design work.
